The Department of Technology Management and Economics (TME) broadly researches the interaction between technology development, industrial systems, society, people and the environment. The research can be divided into three main research areas, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Supply Chain & Operations Management and Sustainability & Society Studies. The department is organized in six divisions for research and teaching and one support function and it hosts four research centres and the Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship. Our research is linked to several of Chalmers' Areas of Advance.Do you want to participate in the practical work of creating more entrepreneurial companies and students? Do you want to contribute to build better knowledge about entrepreneurial pedagogies and their effects on entrepreneurial skills and abilities? Project description

The research addresses Entrepreneurship education, focusing upon one or more of the following themes: Student-company collaboration, Cross regional collaboration, Entrepreneurial learning in life long learning, or Learning from live cases. The EU project that the PhD candidate should work with focuses on developing competences in digitalization, sustainability life science, food and tourism. This should be done through student-small firm-university collaboration. The position also requires frequent interaction with Danish collaboration partners (in Danish).

Major responsibilities

As a PhD student, your main responsibility is to pursue doctoral studies in relation to a specific research aim. At large, PhD studies include a number of doctoral courses, literature reviews, designing research studies, collecting and analyzing empirical data, and communicating the results of your research verbally and in writing, both in Swedish and in English. The exact focus of the work will be decided in interaction with the main supervisor. 

As a Ph.D. student in this project you take an active role in this EU- project in preparing for and collecting empirical data, managing the project and participate on project meetings. At the same time you should collect project data, and read up on relevant research literature. During the project, results will regularly be presented at seminars and international conferences. The position also includes administration and teaching responsibilities at Chalmers and in the EU project up to 20 per cent of the work time.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about doing useful research, who would like to combine working analyzing and solving problems in the empirical setting with producing scientific knowledge.

The applicant should be comfortable in working with companies as well as students and faculty.

Fluency in English AND Swedish is a must.

The following qualifications are meriting:

Degree in entrepreneurship, experiences in teaching entrepreneurship, and experiences participating or teaching in corporate education are meriting.

Excellent communication skills in writing as well as in speaking.  Good knowledge in Danish or Norwegian is meriting.

Relevant competences and experiences in the areas of digitalization, sustainability and life science are also meriting.

Contract terms

Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of five years.
