Maritime ports are critical assets with untapped potential to contribute to Europe’s clean energy transition and independence. Due to the role of ports in countries and worldwide economies, these can set forward important economic drivers for regional development and social cohesion. While changing the emissions produced inside the port and ships are certainly needed, ports can also act as catalysts for energy generation and distribution for the rest of the community, becoming a positive agent in decarbonization across Europe. POTENT aims to provide practical solutions for ports and related stakeholders to transition towards clean energy. Thus, the project will develop scalable model solutions that can be applied to various port ecosystem. The focus on cooperation for knowledge generation (through the Living Labs Networks) will facilitate the scaling up of successful solutions across Europe. Also, the development of new business models within port ecosystems will contributevto the feasibility of the proposed solutions.
